When it comes to famous people ending their own lives, a lot of people wonder why they did what they did. No matter the reason, suicide is not something to be proud of. Here is a list of some notable people who committed suicide…
#1 Robin Williams (Aged 63, 2014)
How can I start the list without mourning his loss? One-of-a-kind actor Sir Williams was battling with mental illness, addiction and Lewy body dementia (which was misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s). He ended his miserable life on August 11, 2014 by asphyxiating himself at his home.
#2 Sylvia Plath (Aged 30, 1963)
The famous writer, Sylvia, was undergoing depression since her late teenage years and had also tried committing suicide many times. She finally committed suicide by placing her head in the oven with the gas turned on.
#3 Kurt Cobain (Aged 27, 1994)
The Nirvana star, Kurt Cobain, was suffering from depression and he had made up his mind to take his own life since he no longer felt like creating music. He shot himself in his home in Seattle.
#4 Alexander McQueen (Aged 40, 2010)
The famous fashion designer was very unhappy with his life and just nine days after his mother’s death, he chose to give up on his own life as well. He hung himself with his belt after drinking a cocktail of cocaine and tranquilizers.
#5 Lucy Gordon (Aged 28, 2009)
The beautiful actress, who starred in Spiderman 3 and Serendipity, was found hanging in her flat. She left two suicide notes and a will where she divided her property among her close ones. No one noticed that she was depressed before her untimely death.
#6 Tony Scott (Aged 68, 2012)
A well-known producer and director, jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California, without hesitation. He left notes in the car and at his home but the contents are well-hidden. He was apparently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and has been fighting it before committing suicide.
#7 Lee Thompson Young (Aged 29, 2013)
The young actor, who was playing a role in Rizzoli & Isles, committed suicide all of a sudden. When he didn’t show up at the sets, police investigated his whereabouts and it was found that, suffering from depression and bipolar disease, Young ended his life with a gunshot to the head.
#8 Dale Roberts (Aged 24, 2010)
A very young Dale who was a footballer hung himself at his home and let go of his life. This was fueled by his struggle with an injury and a media speculation that his fiancée was having an affair with his fellow comrade.
#9 L’Wren Scott (Aged 49, 2014)
The famous fashion designer, model and a long-time girlfriend to Mick Jagger, hanged herself in her apartment at Manhattan. The investigations begot no solid reason for the suicide. Even her boyfriend was shocked at the news.
#10 Ernest Hemingway (Aged 61, 1961)
The famous author shot himself to death in the later years of his life. He was going through a series of health problems and his mental condition was deteriorating badly. He decided to, thus, end his life.
#11 Vincent Van Gogh (Aged 37, 1890)
The Dutch Post-Impressionist painter, Van Gogh, shot himself with a revolver in his chest in the same barn he used to work in. Though, he tried to receive treatment for recovery, the wound infections wouldn’t let him. His last words were “The sadness will last forever”.
An illustrator, stage designer and teacher, he lost his self-confidence after the rise of abstract art and he thus, committed suicide out of depression. His last painting shows what a hurry he was in to perfectly complete his work.
