Pandas are so damn cute, aren’t they? There’s a reason why videos like “The Sneezing Baby Panda” are so viral. That is because people adore these creatures so much. Let’s appreciate everything cute about pandas by looking at some facts and cute images.

Have you ever wondered what makes us think pandas are so cute? The obvious answer is that they remind us of babies. All they do is eat, sleep or do adorable things just like babies. The black eye patches make their eyes look bigger giving them babyish looks. And we can’t help but love these cuties.

Here are some facts about these super cute animals…

#1 Giant pandas first appeared on the earth 2-3 million years ago.

#2 Did you know that a mother panda is 900 times bigger than her baby? A newborn panda weighs about 100 grams which is roughly the same weight as a mobile phone. Makes you want to care for them, right?

#3 Giant pandas eat lots of bamboo which constitutes 99% of their diet even though they are carnivores. They spend 10-16 hours a day eating bamboo.

#4 Pandas can sleep up to 12 hours a day. Just think of what a cute image that makes!

#5 Their sense of smell is so good. They use it to avoid each other and find females for mating in spring. It is believed that they can find the best bamboo stalks by their scent.

#6 Pandas are often seen rolling down slopes. This may be for removing twigs from their fur or they may just be playing. Whatever the reason they are making us fall for their cuteness!

#7 Pandas were endangered species and were on the brink of extinction, until recently. Sadly, it’s proving difficult to increase their population due to their low birthrate; however, in recent times they have been reclassified as ‘vulnerable’ after their wild population rose in China by nearly 17%.

#8 The life span of giant pandas is around 20 years in the wild while the captive pandas can live up to 25-30 years.

#9 Pandas are considered as a symbol of peace in China and are seen as national treasures.
